My Dear Confreres,

The Holy week renders the immediate leap in to the celebration of the Easter. It is the period of intensive preparation for the solemn celebration of Our Lord’s resurrection. Therefore, during the Holy week, let us make every effort to come closer to the suffering Jesus, identifying our suffering and our neighbour’s with that of Jesus. Such an attitude opens various avenues for joyful celebration of life.

Through the celebration of Easter, we experience the new life of the risen Jesus when we are able to pull through our personal Calvaries. We also experience the new life of the risen Jesus not only as individuals but also as a community when we shun all our personal iniquities. Because, we trust in the Lord and we are called forth to bear witness as an individual and as religious. Therefore, let this Easter raise us above all that hinders the very life of our religious vocation.

Success of the Provincial Congress

Low Resolution picture

High Resolution picture

The provincial congress was a God-given moment of grace for us during which we had the opportunity to sort out the possible modalities to better our religious living and the new form of governance envisaged by our new constitutions and the new Directory. The solemn Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. Noel Rebello was con-celebrated along with Rev. Fr. Thomas Perumalil, the Provincial of Visakhapatnam Province, Rev. Fr. Mario de Souza, the Provincial of Pune Province and our confreres marked the good beginning of the congress. The thrust of the theme, “Rooted in Christ and nurtured in fraternal communion we flourish as committed fransalian Missionaries” was running throughout the powerful preaching of Rev. Fr. Mathew kozhupakkalam during the recollection. The keynote address given by Rev. Fr. Thumma mariadas unlocked diverse topics on religious gamut. The added presence of Rev. Fr. Abraham Vettuvelil gave us a sense of confidence and encouragement.

I thank whole-heartedly all the special invitees for their valuable presence. My sincere thanks to the members of the Steering committee namely, Fr. A. Edward, the Convenor, Fr. George Kootinal, Fr.Alphonse Fr. Darline Joseph and the community members of the S.F.S School namely, Fr. S. Arockiam and Fr. Salesian Thought

Happy are the disciples who are submissive to the will of God, manifested either in consolation or tribulation. True servants will prefer the path of adversity since it was the path that the Master chose for   our salvation and His glory. Indeed, this is the path along which he has led His greatest and dearest servants.  In health and sickness we can find God’s will……, Only one thing is necessary: our hearts must always remain united with God. Serve Him with equal commitment, whether in the comfort of fragrant roses or in the torment of a bed of thorns.
